floral love.....{zinnias}

i can't believe its august 1st already - the summer is going by so quickly, fall is right around the corner!

a beautiful bloom for late summer into fall is the zinnia. it blooms in a variety of gorgeous colors and, depending on the color, can mean anything from "lasting affection" to "daily remembrance".

the zinnia lends enough interest & texture on it's own in a bouquet with it's many petals and sunny center but also looks beautiful in combination with roses, dahlias or even stonecrop (beautiful for fall!)

floral love....{wildflowers}

just recently, i had the opportunity to meet a new florist in town. her shop is fabulous - filled with beautiful florals and surprise goodies. and i'm loving her style - relaxed, organic and a bit eclectic. (though whatever your desire, she'll accommodate!) i can't wait to work with her :-)

my visit got me thinking about one of my faves....cottage gardens and wildflowers. i believe wild flowers are equally suited to both picnics and elegant events.

favorite florals...

"april showers bring may flowers............"

okay, well the northwest corner of connecticut seems to be about a month behind. lots of rain as of late and temperatures are still a bit cool but warmer, sunnier weather is (supposedly) on the way!

may brings beautiful spring blooms and one of my favorites is rannunculus. gorgeous colors ranging from subtle pastels to brilliant brights!
